In 2002, Kagoshima Prefecture exported items such as semiconductors,
electronic parts, chemical optical instruments, rubber tires and tubes, and paper to approximately 30 countries. Exports totalled approximately 37.9 billion yen.
In the same year, imports consisting of crude oil, grain, manufacturing materials, aircraft, food items (mainly fish) and general merchandise were exported from approximately 40 countries, totalling 700.6 billion yen.
